Morning meeting

We are continuing to explore the theme of television this week. Please watch the lesson Ag súgradh

Follow the link to access the Luascartaí. Practice the vocabulary by clicking the flashcard and displaying the picture.

   - Students should repeat each term as it is introduced. 

   - Students and parents should assign a simple action to each word.

   - Play the matching game by clicking the 'match' icon in the left hand column

  

Maths

This week we will be focusing on counting using our fingers. This will be an important skill for both addition and subtraction. 

Junior infants:

Watch Five little ducks

- Count forwards from 1 - 10 using your fingers

- Count backwards from 10 - 1 using your fingers

- "How many fingers can you see?" using one hand or two hands

 

Senior infants:

Watch Ten little fish

- Count forwards from 1 - 10 using your fingers

- Count backwards from 10 - 1 using your fingers

- "How many fingers can you see?" using two hands.

- Practice finger addition by calculating the following. 

            1+2           2+1    

            1+3           2+2

            1+4           2+3

            1+5           2+4

       

 

 Fruit break - Take a ten minute break and grab a healthy snack. 

Phonics

Junior infants: 

Please watch today's phonics lesson.

Pause the video at various points to seek answers or a response from your child. Each student should practice reading the /ou/ words in the video. 

Listen to the jolly phonics song for /ou/ at 10:46 and practice the actions for the /ou/ sound by pretending your finger is a needle and pricking your thumb, saying "ou, ou, ouch!". 

 

Junior infants worksheet:

                          

1. Find the /ou/ colouring worksheet.                     2. Colour in the /ou/' sounds. The sound 

                                                                                    could be at the start or the end of the word. 

Senior infants: 

Watch Magic e in action! 

This week we are revising all magic e words, including a_e, i_e o_e and u_e.  

Senior infants worksheet:

                         

1. Find the first magic e revision worksheet.           2. Read each label and colour those 

                                                                                     "magic e" words. 

    

Tricky words 

Junior infants:  

We have now covered Tricky words 1-36. 

Children should continue to revise the three sets of cream, pink and blue coloured words at

least two times a week until the end of this school year. 

Senior infants:

- Practice reading  your third set of tricky word balls. 

Reading

Junior infants:

- Begin reading Quiz and revise it until Wednesday.

- Junior infants should read a minimum of three pages per day.  

Senior infants group 1: 

- Begin reading your first reader The lazy giant  and revise it until Wednesday.

- Senior infants should read a minimum of five pages per day.

Senior infants group 2: 

- Begin reading your first reader The stinky plant and revise it until Wednesday 

- Senior infants should read a minimum of five pages per day.

   

Lunch - Have your lunch and get some fresh air. 

 SESE 

We are learning about 'Electricity'. 

Remind or elicit from your child that

Electricity is a type of energy that gives items the power to work. It flows along wires and can even flow through the air.

We all use electricity every day, for cooking, cleaning and for leisure activities.

 

- Draw two items in your kitchen which use electricity and two which do not.
