All pupils in Room 3, please log in Microsoft Teams te again today to complete the day's learning activities (assignments).

Isn't it difficult to believe that it is the last day of April today?! Summer starts tomorrow with the first day of summer, although it would appear that nobody told the weather that!

Following your feedback yesterday, I have scheduled the extra maths classes for 4th and 5th classes - 5th class maths lesson is at 9:30 am and 4th class is after all the reading lessons at 12pm. Busy day ahead for everyone.

Once you log in in the morning, I will be there in Teams to answer any queries you may have, so just post any comments, queries or issues and I will respond asap.

I understand that all these sessions may not suit all families all the time, but please do attend when you can and I will post the video in Teams so that you can watch it later if you miss it.

Mindful Practice Day 24

Why not start your day by continuing with our mindful practice and following the Calm Challenge Day 24 - Enjoy the calming nature melody today - just sit back and enjoy the music - I must say that I enjoyed this one, inhale the music and exhale and relax - I think we all need this today!

Don't forget to keep safe and get plenty of exercise in this nice weather.

Geography

Rocks

Rocks: Over this week -

1. Watch this video of the different types of Rocks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeuYx-AbZdo

2. Have a look at pictures of all the different types of rocks and decide the names of the rocks that you collected last week: https://geology.com/rocks/

3. Add text boxes with the rock names to your slide from last week (make your best guess by looking at the pictures and examining your rocks.)

Rocks Class Collaboration Project LINK

If you didn't collect your rocks last week, why not collect a sample this week, take a picture, add it to the class project and let us know what types of rocks they might be.

(The most common types of rock in this part of Ireland are limestone, sandstone, shale, gabbro (similar to basalt and on Sliabh Foy) and granite. Have a look at this map of the rocks of Ireland https://secure.dccae.gov.ie/GSI_DOWNLOAD/Bedrock/Other/GSI_BedrockGeologyOfIreland_A4.pdf

Art lesson

Over the next few days I would like to make your spiralling snake that moves with the power of heat!

Have a look at this quick video I made to show you how you can design and make your own spiralling snake.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoLExRYtkbU

You could hang these over a radiator in your room, and watch it swirl when the heating is on.
