Writing

Before Easter we read two explanations in Starlight. 4th Class read 'How Comic Books are Made?' and 'Why Do We Laugh?'. 5th and 6th read 'How do Deep Sea Creatures Survive?' and "What is a Submarine?'.

Explanation writing genre Collaborative Class Project for the next two weeks

We are each going to select a question that we would like to research and write an explanation about. Have a look at some examples here to help you select a topic, however you can choose ANY explanation title that you are interested in.

Example Explanations LINK

Monday - Choose a title and enter it into the class collaborative spreadsheet along with your name. Don't worry if someone else has selected the same title as you, but do try and pick something unique.

Tuesday & Wednesday - Do some research into your topic and break the process or the reasons into different steps. Note your research into your project copy.

Thursday & Friday- Review your research and do your first draft on the class project powerpoint. We will work on improving and developing these next week. I will give you feedback in Teams.

Lots of you have already starting writing your explanations already and I must say that I am impressed! Below is a great example that Eve finished today about rainbows to help inspire others in the class who are still deciding on their topics. Well done to all of you you have started - wonderful work so far!

Geography

Rocks

We are going to be doing a class project on rocks next week, so my task for you this week is to get out into your garden and find different types of rocks. Size doesn't matter. Why not clean them and take pictures of the different types that you can find. Add your pictures to the powerpoint below and when we are learning about all the different types them next week, we will categorise them and learn about their types and formation next week.

Music & Art

for Wednesday & Thursday

Song: If I were a Rich Man - Watch this video of the famous song from the 1964 musical  'Fiddler on the Roof'

pendrawingdrawingrichmanmoneyCaptureart

Art: There are so many great images described in the words of this famous song. Listen to the song a few times and draw your response to this music and at  the words. I'd love to see your interpretations, so please do share with me. You could choose to do a line drawing with a pen, or maybe you need lots of colour for your 'If I were a Rich Man' picture.

Molly, Mark, Erin G, Leanne and Ciaran's wonderful drawings are above to inspire others in the class. Well done!
