Morning meeting

Use this morning warm up  GoNoodle - Raise the roof 2019 to get those minds and bodies moving!


On Tuesday and Thursday morning we engage in a few minutes of mindfulness, where we focus on breathing and stretching. Here is a simple video to follow Go Noodle - Melting.



We are exploring the theme of food. Please watch the lesson An Bosca Lóin.

You can use real items in your house or make your own flashcards to practice the vocabulary. 

Alternatively, practice the terms using the matching game shown. 




Complete the following physical counting exercises. The students must count out loud as they move.

- 10 jumping jacks

- Marching on the spot for 15

- 5 hula hoops in one direction and 7 hula hoops in the other (hip circles)

- Hoping on your right foot for 8

- Hoping on your left foot for 8

- Hit the sky above your head for 20

- Crouch down on your hunkers and count backwards from 10 to 1 and jump up at *BLAST OFF*

Junior infants worksheet: 


 1. Find the 'Write maths worksheet.                     2.   Count the number of items in each set.  

     Trace the number 5 using your finger                   Write number 5, starting with the neck,

     and practising the number rhyme.                           round tummy and a hat on top. 



Senior infants worksheet


1. Find the 'Story of ten' maths worksheet.         2.   Count the number of eggs in each basket

                                                                                  and record ways of making 10. 

                                                                                   Read each number sentence aloud

                                                                                   e.g. 2 + 8 = 10

 FRUIT BREAK - Grab some fruit and take a break.



Junior and Senior infants have different phonics each week. 

Junior infants :

Listen to the jolly phonics song for /ch/ at 9:24 and practice the action for the /ch/ sound by pretending to be a steam train. 

Please revise yesterday's phonic lesson

Pause the video at various points to seek answers or a response from your child. Each student should practice reading the /ng/ words in the video. 



1. Find the /ch/ colouring worksheet.                     2. Colour in the /ch/' sounds. The sound 

                                                                                    could be at the start or the end of the word. 


 Have a two minute Shake break before completing the next worksheet.



1. Find the /ch/ handwriting worksheet.                 2. An adult should write at least two /ch/ words on the     

    Ask you child to trace the /ch/ sound                     back of the sheet for the student to copy.

We already know that the sound /ie/. Now we will look at another way of writing the sound using /igh/.

                                                                                         Read the first word again and match

                                                                                         it to the corresponding picture. Then

                                                                                         read the second word etc. 



 3. Write the /igh/ word shown in the picture.            4. Colour the pictures. 



Tricky words 

New tricky words will be issued by week 2 but students should know the existing set beforehand. 

Junior infants

Revise all the cream and pink words by playing 'Go fish'. 

Senior infants :

Revise all your tricky word balls. 




Read either an old or new storybook with your child

- Discuss the illustrations 

- Allow them to sound out simple words

- Ask them if they can spot any tricky words.
