Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a well deserved break and are positively bursting with sunshine and stories now!

Did anyone spot a white rabbit during the Easter holidays? A rabbit whose front paw turned in just a little, so that instead of hopping straight, he zigzagged from side to side?

Work pack A is on its way to all pupils in Room 1 with an anticipated arrival at some point this week. If your pack does not arrive by Friday of this week, please let me know via the Aladdin App and I will issue another :)

While the packs are winging their way to your lovely homes, we will begin with some active learning and start the written work tomorrow.

Morning meeting

Revise the days of the week  and the months of the year.

Discuss

- "How many days are in one week"

- "If today is Monday, what day is it tomorrow?"

- "What month is your birthday?"

- "Last month was March, what month are we in now?"

Let's get bright eyed and bushy tailed with this morning warm up Go Noodle - Hello

Over the next few weeks,

  • Junior Infants will be focusing on number 5
  • Senior Infants will be focusing on number 10.

Go on a 'number walk' in your house and around the garden to tell the story of either number 5 or number 10.

Here is Ms McDermott's Story of 5 and her Story of 10. Pause the video to count the collections and to spot some familiar faces!

Take pictures or record your journey so that you can analysis the evidence afterwards.

- Count sets or collections of 5 or 10

- Identify the numeral used to denote a quantity of five or ten on signs, labels, clothing or objects.

Fruit break - Take a ten minute break and grab a healthy snack.

Phonics

Junior and Senior infants have different phonics each week.

Junior infants :

Revise your sounds using the following Phonics bloom flashcards game. An adult must click to indicate a right or wrong answer.

Listen to the jolly phonics song for /ch/ at 9:24 and practice the action for the /ch/ sound by pretending to be a steam train.

Please watch today's phonic lesson

Pause the video at various points to seek answers or a response from your child. Each student should practice reading the /ch/ words in the video.

Senior infants :

Revise your sounds using the following Phonics bloom flashcards game. An adult must click to indicate a right or wrong answer.

We already know that the sound /ie/. Now we will look at another way of writing the sound using /igh/.

Please watch /igh/ words

Pause the video at various points to seek answers or a response from your child. Each student should practice reading the /igh/ words in the video.
